MISSION STATEMENT:
The Montana
Association of Counties Joint Powers Insurance Authority (MACo/JPIA) is
dedicated to providing comprehensive property and casualty coverages to member
counties and affiliate members by providing long term stability in coverages,
stabilizing and controlling risk costs, aggressively defending claims and
providing quality risk management and administrative services. Services will be provided while using sound
financial and management practices.

STRUCTURE
MACo/JPIA is governed by a seven member Board of Trustees. Six members of the Trustees are elected by
the County membership on alternating three year terms. The Executive Director of MACo serves as
the seventh member. The Trustees are
responsible for supervising the operation of the JPIA pool including policy
requirements, pool/financial structure, service programs, claims, approval and
management of the pool.

policy, is extended to include property damage liability for claims arising out
of weedspraying operations by or on behalf of the insured. Limit of Liability $500,000/ occurrence/limit $500,000 in the aggregate annually All claims arising out of a single weedspraying
operation will be deemed to be one occurrence. All other terms, conditions,
and exceptions remain unaltered. NURSES
MALPRACTICE LIABILITY Coverage under Section II A of the MACo/ JPIA
policy is extended to include medical malpractice coverage for County Health
Nurses and /or County Nursing Home nurses for claims arising while acting
within the scope of their duties and for the activities for which they are
licensed or certified. Limits of Liability $750,000/claim; $ 1,500,000 /occurrence except as
required for certain training activities whereby the liability limits would
require $1,000,000/ occurrence. All other terms conditions,
and exceptions remain unaltered. Coverages under Section II A of the MACo/ JPIA
policy is extended to include liability coverage for Disaster Relief Teams
while acting within the scope of the teams duties while providing a service for
MACo/ JPIA member counties. Limit
of Liability - $ 750,000/ claim $ 1,500,000 / occurrence All terms, conditions and
exceptions remain unaltered. SECTION

OFFICIALS ERROR AND OMISSIONS

An extended Reporting Period is available for Public
Officials’ Error and Omissions coverage, which is on claims made form. RETROACTIVE DATE -
Unlimited In the event of
cancellation or non-renewal, the Insured will have the option of purchasing an
extended reporting period of this coverage.
This option must be exercised in writing within thirty (30) days of such
termination. The coverage provided
during any extended reporting period will be governed by the terms and
conditions of the actual policy of insurance issued by the underwriters for the
MACo/JPIA. If the Insured does
not purchase the extended reporting period, the terms and conditions of the actual
policy insurance issued by the underwriters apply to this coverage. The coverage includes coverage for
any wrongful act, Errors & Omissions by named insured unless otherwise
excluded. Includes Employment
Practices Liability coverage and defense costs for claims arising out of
subdivision review. Additional
Liability limits for Federal Court and out-of-state claims $5,000,000 x
$750,000/claim, $15,000,000/occurrence. Additional
limits are provided for claims ending up in Federal Court and for out-of-state
claims where the State statutory tort limits for public entities do not apply. The
additional limits ($5,000,000) apply only to Federal Court and out-of-state
claims that exceed the Tort limits. SUMMARY OF
SERVICES SERVICE BENEFITS The MACo/JPIA pool
not only provides packaged comprehensive, price competitive property and
casualty insurance coverages, but also a complete, comprehensive package of
services that are difficult to match anywhere. The services are designed and provided for the long-term
benefit of the pool members. ·

and loss control of risk exposures through formal risk management and loss

PERSONNEL SERVICES ADMINISTRATOR Provides assistance to JPIA
members to help protect pool members from the growing risk of employment
practice liability by providing advice and recommendations in consultation with
member counties regarding: - Employee selection issues - Termination issues - Performance issues - American with Disabilities Act issues - Family Medical Leave issues - Sexual Harassment issues - Personnel Policy and Procedures review and recommendations -

PROPERTY COVERAGE SERVICES Services
provided by Coregis, in coordination with Risk Management, to achieve the goal
of providing JPIA members need risk assessment, loss prevention and
appraisal services for property insured by the pool including: - Risk
Assessment and Loss Prevention Services: Designed to identify significant
exposures and to recommend cost effective solutions. - Engineering Services: Provide detailed Loss Prevention
Reports (LPRs) from each inspection in addition to pre-design, design and
constructions advise for remodeling and new public buildings. -
Appraisal Services: Provides property appraisal
services for property valued at $250,000 and above. A minimal cost is charged for properties below $250,000 in
value. Appraisals are updated annually. ·
CLAIMS SERVICES Provides local
claims adjusting service for pool members.
The claims process includes the benefit of member input regarding the
settlement or litigation of a particular claim in consultation with the JPIA
Trustees. ·
ADMINISTRATIVE / MARKETING SERVICES - JPIA Marketing Director:
Provides Marketing and Administrative services to the pool members and Board of
Trustees including development of marketing goals and strategies, underwriting
methodologies, internal service programs, liaison with brokers, actuary,
insurance companies and the local agent and other administrative requirements
to efficiently and effectively manage the JPIA pool. -
Local Servicing Agent: Provides hands on services and
